Is a girth cover useful?
You've probably seen them before many times - some fluffy fur on a girth. But what is it used for and why would you need one? A girth cover or girth sleeve is the perfect solution if your horse tends to have irritated skin around the girth area or even gets little wounds sometimes. There are sheepskin girth sleeves, but also neoprene girth sleeves. A girth cover helps protect from chafing and is a soft cushion between skin and girth. A sheepskin girth cover is breathable and quickdrying and will offer great comfort for your horse. If you use a girth cover, make sure it is attached solidly to the girth to prevent it from sliding around and possibly becoming useless or making it even more uncomfortable for your horse. Also make sure that you have the right cut and size matching your girth - there's girth covers for dressage girths and for jumping/general purpose girths. Here at Epplejeck you can get a dressage ones from LeMieux, Shires and Harry's Horse. The brand BR has covers in both jumping/GP and dressage lengths. And of course, we have a simple girth sleeve you can slip over your girth from our Epplejeck store brand as well.Protect your saddle from dust, dirt and mud
Muddy, dirty and sandy stirrups. Especially in winter time if you're riding in an outside arena or after a nice hacking trip or a cross country adventure, stirrups tend to not be looking very nice anymore. And all that mud and sand is not really something you want to have hanging on the side of your saddle. But you can easily protect the leather of your saddle with stirrup covers by BR. Simply put them around the stirrup and slide the stirrup leathers through the designated slits to keep your saddle in perfect condition.
If you want to protect your saddle from any dust in your locker or needs to carry it around in the rain, a saddle cover is perfect. Just slip it on over the saddle whenever you don't need it and put it in your locker or tack room to prevent it from catching dust or getting wet. Saddle covers are also perfect if you need to transport your tack as it helps prevent scratches and other small damages to the saddle. And if you have a precious collection of saddle pads and rugs, we have something to help you store those dry and clean as well - saddle pad bags! They have space for multiple pads or rugs and you can easily put them on top of your locker, somewhere in your locker or at a good spot in your tack room.
