Stock ties mandatory or not?

A stock tie is a white tie worn by riders of horse events like dressage competitions and sometimes show jumping and eventing competitions as well. Stock ties are mandatory at advanced dressage events. They should be white or off white or if the coat is navy the stock tie may match this colour in a lighter shade. At lower difficulties often a showshirt with a standing collar is sufficient.
