• with these handy test strips you can determine the pH value of your mare's milk
• the acidity of the milk is expressed in the pH value
• the colostrum that a mare makes in the run-up to birth has a lower pH value, so you can test whether the foal almost presents itself
• if the pH value of the milk is 6 or lower, then the birth will usually be started within 24 hours
• test 2 to 3 times a day for the most reliable results
• how quickly the pH-value decreases can differ per mare, therefore it is wise to keep an extra eye on the mare from a pH-value of 6,5 on other phenomena that may indicate that the birth is imminent
• use the test strips as an extra tool i.c.w. a birth alarm and/or camera

Use:
- Tear off one test strip.
-Gently squeeze the mare's udder and drop the drop of milk directly onto the strip. Depending on the pH value the color of the test strip changes, normally the body's own pH value is around 8.
- Wait 10 to 15 seconds until the strip is discoloured and check the pH value of the milk on the colour scale. Choose the value that corresponds the most.
- If the pH value is 6 or lower, delivery will usually start within 24 hours. The pH value may drop further until birth and will not rise again until the moment of birth.

The strips can be used once. In case of doubt about the mare's medical condition, we advise you to always consult a veterinarian. Unused test strips may discolour over time, this does not affect the effect of the strips.
