What are the advantages of winter breeches?

A good pair of winter breeches is characterised by the fact that they keep your legs pleasantly warm even at low temperatures, because as riders we are of course also outdoors regularly and for long periods in winter. A material that is particularly recommended for this and is therefore often used is softshell. It is windproof, dirt and water repellent and yet breathable. Since training with the horse can also be sweaty in winter, softshell breeches are also moisture-wicking, so that sweat is wicked to the outside. This means that your body doesn't cool down and the fabric doesn't stick uncomfortably to your skin. The fabric is nevertheless very elastic and provides a lot of freedom of movement, so that you can still move well even with the slightly thicker winter breeches.

Many models from different brands are also softly lined on the inside for a particularly pleasant and warm feeling. Brushed fleece is often used for this, which offers a high level of comfort and guarantees that you won't freeze. Fleece-lined breeches can also be made with softshell on the outside, or they are made of normal material and simply have the fleece on the inside. Fleece-lined breeches are more suited for autumn time and milder winter days, while softshell breeches are best suited in very cold temperatures, bad weather like rain and snow, or for those of us who always feel cold. With winter breeches, there’s nothing standing in the way of a winter ride or a long day at the stables in sub-zero temperatures.
