Breast plate
Does your saddle slide when you ride? A breast plate could be a suitable solution, as it prevents the saddle from sliding backwards while riding. There are separate breast plates available, but also ones with a detachable martingale, which prevents that the contact between horse and rider is lost when the horse raises its head too far.
Martingale
A martingale prevents the horse from raising its head too far and thus losing contact between rider and horse. A martingale has no effect if the horse keeps its head in the normal position. A martingale is attached by sliding a loop around the girth and is widely adjustable at the girth and neck.
Market Harborough aka Thiedemann
This training aid ensures that your horse cannot bring its head too far up or forward. The effect of the Thiedemann stops as soon as the horse walks in the correct position. The rein is attached to the girth through a girth loop. The reins with D-rings are attached to the rings of the bit to which the Thiedemann can be attached. The Thiedemann is passed through the bit rings and then attached to the reins at the desired length.
