Tasty treats – part 2: cinnamon corners
It’s very normal for us to bake a cake or some cupcakes for birthdays, anniversaries or special occasions… but how often do you treat your horse to some homemade, selfmade, handmade goodies?
Make the next special occasion for your horse extra special with our tasty treat recipes that you can quickly and easily make at home. Today’s recipe: cinnamon corners!
Add a little bit of spice – and you get cinnamon corners! Three ingredients and some cinnamon, this tasty treat will make your whole house smell like heaven and your horse very happy.
What you need
- 350 gr apple pulp or unsweetened apple sauce
- 350 gr rolled oats
- 35 gr crushed linseeds
- 1 table spoon of cinnamon (if possible Ceylon cinnamon)
Put all the ingredients into one bowl and thoroughly mix them with your hands. You should be getting a smooth consistency. Let rest for about 10 minutes, until the dough is ready to be shaped easily.
In the meanwhile, preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Fill the dough onto the sheet and smooth it out into a rectangle – try getting it as even as possible. You may need to wet your hands a little bit in order to not stick to the dough all the time! Don’t fill up the whole baking tray, you still need some space. Ideally, your rectangle should be around 30 x 25 cm.
Let treats bake for about 15 minutes, and then take them out again. At this point, the treats should still be soft enough to cut!
Cut the big rectangle into smaller squares and then cut those squares again into triangles. Spread the triangles out, so they all have space without touching each other. Put the tray back into the oven and let the dough bake for another 15 minutes! Afterwards, leave the treats in the oven while the oven is cooling down. This makes them extra hard and crunchy! And just like that, your delicious cinnamon corners are ready for your hungry horse.
