Tasty treats - part 5: carrot cubes

It’s very normal for us to bake a cake or some cupcakes for birthdays, anniversaries or special occasions… but how often do you treat your horse to some homemade, selfmade, handmade goodies? Make the next special occasion for your horse extra special with our tasty treat recipes that you can quickly and easily make at home. Today’s recipe: carrot cutes!

Every horse loves carrots, and every horse loves oats – so every horse will love these carrot cubes!

What you need:

  • 200 gr rolled oats
  • A few table spoons unsweetened carrot juice, or alternatively one graded carrot

In a bowl, mix the rolled oats with a few teaspoons of carrot juice. If you don’t want to use carrot juice, you can also grate a carrot and use that instead. You shouldn’t add too much of the carrot juice though – the dough should be sticky, not runny! Mix everything well with your hands.
In the meantime, preheat the oven to 100 degrees Celsius. When you’re satisfied with the consistency of the dough, shape it into small cubes and bake them on a baking sheet with parchment paper for about an hour. Check on the cubes after an hour, if they have baked through you can take them out, if they are still very raw, you can bake them for another few minutes up to an hour.
Let them cool out fully, if possible for a full day before feeding them to your four legged darling!
