Treating your horse to something extra tasty is always fun, right? Especially in the summer time, your horse definitely deserve a refreshing summer snack. Making your horse some DIY refreshments is super easy and we created 3 yummy listed for you!
A fruit garland
This creative treat is super simple and your horse will love it! All you need is a rope and all of your horse's favourite fruit and vegetable. Cut large pieces of apples, carrots, watermelon or whatever else your horse loves and puncture them. Threat the string through all the fruit pieces and hang the garland in the stable or to the pasture fence. The garland doesn't only provide lots of tasty treats to your horse, it's also great for entertainment and you can easily adjust the difficulty by having the garland hang and swing freely.
Horsey ice cream
Humans obviously love ice cream, and maybe your horse loves it too! But obviously, human ice cream is not very suited or healthy for horses. Thankfully, making popsicles or ice cubes for your horse is very easy. Here's what you need:
- Your horse's favourite fruit or vegetable(s)
- A dash of orange juice
- A dash of apple juice
- Water
- Plastic cup, popsicle form or (big) ice cube form
Grate your horse's favourite fuirt/vegetable into a bowl. Add a splash of orange juice and a splash of apple juice. Top up the rest of the bowl with water. Divide the mixture into one or more plastic cups - if you have popsicle forms or big ice cube forms, you can also use those. Put the mixture into the freeze and let them freeze for at least half a day. Take the ice out of the freezer, remove the plastic cup and tadaaa! you have a delicious horse that your horse will love!
You can feed them per hand, drop them in a bucket or through, or if you get really creative, you can try hanging them somewhere.
Bonus tip: you can also use horse treats instead of fruit. You can buy our treats here.
