Aren’t we all someway familiar with uncomfortable incorrectly fitted shoes or clothing and how that can affect how you react and feel during the day. It’s no different for your horse’s bridle. The Micklem® bridle takes all these areas of discomfort away, and can change a difficult horse into an easy going one.
A comfortable, more human bridle
The Micklem® bridle is designed by William Micklem from the inside out. The goal – to avoid the five areas of facial sensitivity. Throughout the structure of a horse’s head, there are major nerves, which are highly sensitive and which the Micklem® bridle expertly avoids. This is achieved by the unique positioning of the noseband, so it softens the pressure off your horse’s fragile nose bones. The contoured design of the bridle’s cheekpieces completely bypass the protruding teeth of a horse. Also, the headpiece is both wide and a singular piece of leather to spread the pressure evenly over a larger area of the poll.
Issues that the Micklem® bridle can overcome
- Lunging and causing the horse discomfort due to a bridle and a lunge cavesson, giving the horse more pressure points and the feeling of wearing too much
- Resistance to the bit due to pain
- Horses that don’t like too much pressure on the tongue
- Getting the tongue over the bit
- Fighting the contact
- Head shaking
- Wanting to rub the face
The advantages of the Micklem® bridle are huge and your horse will thank you for it. Whether you are a serious competitor or a recreational rider the Micklem® bridle really can benefit horses and riders of all levels.

Stories of success
There are many examples of success stories using the Micklem® bridle like the following one;
William Micklem: ''Joseph Murphy, our Irish Olympic rider, was riding a horse called Chuckleberry at Boekelo, the CCI 3* horse trials in Holland. The horse was not comfortable in the mouth on cross country. So the next day Joseph tried a Micklem bridle and then used it immediately in the showjumping. The horse took to it immediately and jumped a beautiful, clear round.''
Each Micklem® bridle comes with an instruction manual advising how to assemble and fit the bridle correctly. Or you can view the video on how to assemble and fit the Micklem bridle correctly.
