Girths with belly guards
Why and when do you need a belly guard at the girth? A belly-guard girth protects, as the name suggests, the belly of the horse while jumping. During the jumps, when the horse is lifting and tucking its legs a lot, the hooves and – if applicable– the studs, may come into contact with the abdomen. A belly guard covers a large area of the stomach, which lowers the risk of the horse injuring itself. In the Epplejeck assortment, you’ll find belly guard girths from Shires, QHP and Dy’on.
But whichever girth you choose, always make sure you select the right size for your horse and consider which model and material would work best for your particular horse, discipline and needs. If your horse is super sensitive, we would also recommend getting a soft (faux) fur girth cover.
