Girths
A saddle would not be complete without a girth. Thanks to our big assortment of saddle girths, you are guaranteed to find the perfect model for yourself, your horse and your saddle. A girth should not only be functional, but also comfortable for your horse and fit well. Whether you’re looking for an anatomical dressage girth, a girth for an all-purpose saddle, a jumping girth with belly guard or a basic neoprene girth, we’ve got you covered.
Our range includes girths by brands like Kieffer, LeMieux, Prolite, BR and Schockemöhle, and our own house brands at different price points. Girths are available in both straight and anatomical shapes, depending on what suits you best.
Popular girths
Girths by Prolite are immensely popular. The dressage girth Prolite Narrow Freedom, as well as the Prolite Classic Freedom are part of Epplejeck’s product range. The narrow girth is very suitable for horses with less than 20cm of space between the front legs. These girths ensure optimal freedom of movement and pressure distribution. Prolite girths are made of high-tech fabrics with great moisture-wicking properties. The shape allows for excellent mobility behind the elbow and prevents muscles from pressing into each other through the girth and legs. Thanks to the curved edge at the front-facing side, the horse can easily and freely move it shoulders. Other popular girths include the BR sheepskin anatomic, the Kieffer Exclusiv and the Epplejeck neoprene girth.
Girths with belly guards
Why and when do you need a belly guard at the girth? A belly guard-girth protects, as the name suggests, the belly of the horse while jumping. During the jumps, when the horse is lifting and tucking its legs a lot, the hooves and – if applicable– the studs, may come into contact with the abdomen. A belly guard covers a large area of the stomach, which lowers the risk of the horse injuring itself. In the Epplejeck assortment, you’ll find belly guard girths from Shires, QHP and Dy’on.
But whichever girth you choose, always make sure you select the right size for your horse and consider which model and material would work best for your particular horse, discipline and needs. If your horse is super sensitive, we would also recommend getting a soft (faux) fur girth cover.
