Cleaning a Bucas rug

In order to improve the lifespan of your Bucas rug, proper cleaning and maintenance is very important. Washing your rug will remove any dirt such as hair, grass, dung, and sebum.

Bucas rugs can be washed at a temperature of 40 °C, without fabric softener and they should never be put in a dryer. A regular laundry detergent can damage the waterproof coating of the rug or even destroy it completely. Hairs everywhere!

Now the most annoying part of rug cleaning: those hairs. Hairs let loose and stick everywhere, especially where you don’t want them. The last thing you want is a rug or Velcro strap covered in hairs.

Here are a few ideas on how to remove those annoying hairs: 

Removing hairs from rugs: 

• Use a rubber broom or brush to remove the hairs. Check online for ‘barber broom.’ These brooms will easily remove hairs from any object; not just from your rugs, but also from your clothes, door mat, chair or car seat as well. 
• Are you planning on having your Bucas rug washed or on washing it yourself? Remove the hairs both before and after washing. This benefits the lifespan of your washing machine and will make your rug look brand new again. 

Removing hair and dirt from velcro: 

Many rugs have Velcro straps. Which is great for its fit and to protect fittings, however Velcro sticks to literally every fabric and in turn everything sticks to velcro. Not just hairs, but straw and dirt as well. 

• The easiest way to remove this dirt is by using a small wire brush. It’s super easy and quick and will result in clean Velcro which sticks properly again.
